Chipped Tooth Repair
Teeth are tough; the enamel that covers them is the hardest substance in the body. However, they are still susceptible to damage from pressure, impact and other types of trauma. When your child chips a tooth playing sports, or you crack a tooth biting down on something hard, it is important to get the tooth repaired. As part of our family dental services at Gold Hill Dentistry, we can quickly repair chipped, cracked or broken teeth to protect your smile.
A chip in a tooth may not seem like a big issue, especially when it does not hurt or is not noticeable. Yet, it can lead to bigger dental problems if not fixed. The chip can expose dentin or softer tooth material that is no longer protected by enamel. This is inviting to bacteria and decay, which can find its way into the interior pulp of the tooth and lead to cavities and possibly infection. Chips can also weaken the tooth structure, increasing the chance of further cracks and damage down the road.
Repairs to Cracked or Broken Teeth
Repairing a small chip or crack in a tooth is usually quick and painless. Fillings or dental bonding can be used to repair surface chips and cracks, protecting and strengthening the tooth in one visit to our office. Deeper cracks and broken teeth may need more extensive repairs. This can include inlays or onlays, or a complete dental crown for severe damage. For all tooth repairs, we offer white and tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bonding material and inlays/onlays that will blend with your smile and hide the dental work done to repair your damaged tooth.
If you or a family member injure a tooth, contact our team at Gold Hill Dentistry right away. We will get you in for an exam to determine the best way to repair your chipped, cracked or broken tooth.
